Learners: Charlotte, Shaval & Selestine Learning Coach: T.Dillner Date: 07.03.16 Learning Area: iExperience - Space Key Competency: Thinking Learning Observed The learners had six activities to choose from to extend their knowledge about Space. Charlotte, Shaval and Selestine chose to take part in one that required problem solving and thinking skills. They had the option to make either a Mars Rover or a Satellite and picked to do the Mars Rover. With the provided materials, Charlotte, Shaval and Selestine had to make a connection between their own version and the image that was shown on the screen. The girls showed curiosity by using the materials in specific ways and both tried to use as much detail as possible in their creation. Learner: Shaval Learning Coach: T.Dillner Date: 7.3.16 Learning Area: iDevelop - Geometry Key Competency: Using Language, Symbols and Text Learning Observed Recently, we have been looking at Geometry one day each week. The focus for this particular activity was naming, identifying and using 2D shapes. Shaval chose to develop her curiosity with a blank template of a ‘Shape Pizza’, rather than using one with pre-specified numbers of shapes. Instead, she needed to decide how many of each shape (triangle, square, diamond, rhombus, trapezium and hexagon) she would use. Shaval was capable of working independently and gave careful thought to placement of the shapes and how this could become a cohesive pattern.
