Shaval's Geometry Learning Story

Learner: Shaval
Learning Coach: T.Dillner           Date: 7.3.16
Learning Area: iDevelop - Geometry
Key Competency: Using Language, Symbols and Text
Learning Observed
Recently, we have been looking at Geometry one day each week. The focus for this particular activity was naming, identifying and using 2D shapes.
Shaval chose to develop her curiosity with a blank template of a ‘Shape Pizza’, rather than using one with pre-specified numbers of shapes. Instead, she needed to decide how many of each shape (triangle, square, diamond, rhombus, trapezium and hexagon) she would use.
Shaval was capable of working independently and gave careful thought to placement of the shapes and how this could become a cohesive pattern.

Next Learning Steps
  • Complete the Shape Pizza and total up the number of shapes used altogether.
  • Compare it to the Shape Pizza of another learner - What is the same? What is different? What are other shapes that could be added?
